Meet last years winners

The first Face of Exeter’s Princesshay winners Perry Meadowcraft and Hannah Bird have been busy representing the shopping centre for a year in some exciting events such as the city’s official Christmas lights switch on and Princesshay’s Spring Summer Fashion shows as part of their competition prize.
Following the grand finale event where they strutted their stuff in front of an audience of guests and judging panel against 12 other finalists the winners took part in a professional photoshoot with a top fashion photographer, Andy Green, and were given £500 to spend in Princesshay accompanied by personal stylist Chantelle Znideric of Topstylista.
Perry, 19, from Exmouth, a performing arts student at Exeter College, was surprised to be crowned king of the catwalk. Following the finale event he said, “It’s awesome to have won, but I felt really shocked when they called my name out. I hope to have a career in music and drama, so being the Face of Exeter’s Princesshay will be a step in the right direction. I’ve really enjoyed the event. I think I will spend some of the £500 on a new leather jacket.”
Female winner Hannah, 17, an A-level student at Exeter College from West Hill, Ottery St Mary, entered the competition by chance. Hannah said, “I was walking to college and was approached by some competition promoters with flyers,” she said.”I was worried about being late to my lecture, but I was told it didn’t take too long.
“Lots of my friends and family voted for me so that probably helped me get through to the semi-finals. But I was totally shocked to win, I thought one of the other girls would win as the standard was really high.
It’s been a bumper packed year for Hannah and Perry as the first Faces of Exeter’s Princesshay so how has the year been for them?
Hannah said, “I have enjoyed every minute of the competition. Right from the start where we were up against the other finalists at the finale event to having our faces in the paper and on the front of magazines! We have been able to represent Princesshay at all of its fun events from chocolate workshops to VIP fashion shows and have met lots of lovely people. One of my favourite experiences was the professional photoshoot with fashion photographer Andy Green. We took to the streets of Princesshay so the shots were on location and the clothes we got to wear were gorgeous. I never thought I could look like a real model! But the photos came back and I did!”
“ It’s definitely boosted my confidence and made me think that I could do this as a new sideline to a career in the future now that I have the experience and a great portfolio of images.”
About being the male Face of Exeter’s Princesshay Perry said, “As a performing arts student who wants to get into acting it is important for me to have a professional portfolio so this competition has definitely given me a great head start. Following the exposure of us winning we were asked to do other modelling shoots for other companies and have really got ourselves out there. I loved getting up on the catwalk at Princesshay’s Spring Summer Fashion Shows alongside the professional models who mentored me throughout the whole experience. I think I realised how much this competition could change things for me when I was up on stage at the Christmas lights switch on being interviewed by the Heart radio presenters in front of thousands of people, it has literally given me a platform to get my face and name out there. Standing out from the crowd is so important in this sort of industry.”
“I would recommend entering The Face of Exeter’s Princesshay competition to anyone who wants to kick start their career in modelling as it opens up opportunities you might not otherwise know existed. The professional portfolio of images is a major tool that I take to all of my auditions and the £500 I got to spend accompanied by a professional stylist made me try clothes I never normally would therefore giving me confidence, style and a whole new wardrobe!”
